Happy? Happy. Why? Why.

Just downloaded Mozilla 1.1.
I like it.
I also like flowers.
And the fact that I'm going
to olaus' party on Saturday.
(is there supposed
to be an extra 's'
after that " olaus' " ?)
And I like the fact that
Jenni will be with me, too.
Perhaps.

Flip

This entry was inspired by _jiVe_ - he told me on that he's been reading me, and actually getting something out of it *whoa* =) .

"Hello mom!"

Wow, it's been a week since I last wrote something.

Kaisa did, after all, come to visit me last weekend. On Friday Jenni joined us and Kaisa reclaimed her "gift certificate" which I gave to her when she graduated from the Finnish high school. It said something like "this gift certificate enrights you to a meal in a restaurant you wish at the time you wish, with me".

Later, we went to see a movie... mm.. "The Others" was the name of it. It was good. This movie belongs to the same genre as "The 6th Sense". After seeing it, the people who saw it always say something like "and the ending of the movie, well, oh, you better see it for yourself", as in the whole scenario just might go kind of twisted in the end.

On Saturday, two movies. The other one was "Monsters, Inc." but what was the other one? On Sunday, one movie - "The Cube". That was a very good one as well.

On Sunday, my new roommate moved to the room next door "for good". At least for almost year, anyway =).

After that, it's mostly just been working.

Tal

I'm fighting the question whether or not I should write any entries when I'm tired and pretty sure I won't get anything real said.

If netscape crashes now that means I wasn't meant to write this.

All of the sudden NP: Alice Deejay - Better of alone seems awfully current, although the lyrics contain of less than ten different words.

"do you think you're better off alone, do you think you're better on your own".

Kaisa's coming here tomorrow, I guess.

More wanted feats in Winamp 3

Final word about Winamp 3: The innovativity of the product gives me a good feeling, but the UI is a bit too complicated for the average user, there are just too many ways of doing the same thing and all of those ways come at you at once. Also, some important features are missing (for now, they say), so I think I'm going to stick with version 2 for a while longer, after all

The list can be found by clicking the [more] link, below.

Winamp 3

Testing the new Winamp, version number three. I've previously checked out a couple of pre-releases, of which everyone seems to have been a bit disappointed - including me. But unlike the pre-release version, the final Winamp 3 has just a bit more of the pros than the cons for me to stop using the previous version, 2.xx.

Actually, those pros are not that much. I can now see videos, which I previously used Media Player for - and possibly will in the future (haven't tested the video playback features thoroughly enough yet). I can now use more advanced skins for the thing - too bad the only usable skin available seems to be the default skin (which can be given different shades of colours though).

All of the other skins I found were mostly too artistic to be usable in all situations, some of them seemed to lack some of the components completely(!). Hopefully some of this will change in the future, if the product is a success. The UI seems to demand a bit too much of the average user's patience, in my opinion.

There are, however, real benefits as well. At first I didn't understand why is the old playlist editor - which in itself has some new features - still there, and then there's also a new window called "media library". Come to think of it, the names of the windows are quite self-explanatory; the media librery simply contains all of the media files on my computer, sorted by media, artist name and album name. It's searchable as well. Then, for example, when I wish to listen to some smooth jazz, I'll go to my playlist labeled accordingly, but if I just want to listen to tracks from a certain artist I can just click on that artist's name in the media library and enjoy. And I can do all this to video, MOD or midi files as well.

For some reason a feature I used to use a lot, "Delete files physically", doesn't exist in the third generation of Winamp. So now I have to use a separate file manager to tidy up a recently received compilation with duplicates and bad quality files.

The feature was already crippled by way too many confirmations in the most recent version, anyway. I guess they thought of it as a security risk or something. Also, you cannot make the artist/song name scroll in the task bar (or I might just have been blind trying to find the feature). Also, if an MP3 file doesn't have an ID3 tag but a filename with the information, you cannot copy parts of the filename and paste them to the ID3 fields.

At the end of the day the thing crashed and lost all my preferences already made.

I just saw "The talented Mr. Ripley", for the second time.
It still is a good movie.

[poem]

there was this challenge that I took
it was long, and hard
it kept moving out of my view
I couldn't stand the loneliness
it would have taken

there was this life I had
I never saw it coming until it had me
I was thanking Him for having received it
"one day I'll learn how to use this"

the problem kept running away from me the
shadows seem taller every day the
loneliness I can stand now
but my hands are reaching for everything
but the essential

this world's got me

Kukka (JPEG 10 Kb)

While Jenni was here I played around a bit. Then she made this gorgeous drawing on the computer without using much computer aid except for .. the smudge tool.

It must've been at least a month since I hoovered this place last time (I did that today)

Feeling empty. I really need to find a place in which to talk openly about God with other people in love with Jesus.

All these people

Just had a more-or-less meaningful conversation with her on IRC. *happy about it*
Maybe I shouldn't meet her, but preserve the "friendship" on the level it is, since I like those brief chats...

editplus
I'm learning more and more about my text editor, EditPlus. It plain rocks. It's simple enough to just launch and start writing, and still, it's got all the advantaged features I want.

I started the day by programming some PHP code and fixed one major issue with a customer website I'm building. At half past one I took off to Tampere centrum, where I met Riitta - strawling around town, talking, eating. Just when I met her, I got an SMS from Taru, with whom I met too many years ago. Jenni H. called me, and later I met her. We shopped at a grocery. While there, got an SMS from mr. Veltheim, an old high school friend. It's been way too long since I've last met him. We had a picnic at the train station with Jenni H.

At the station, a guard of the security company came to ask me what in the world am I doing, jumping on the rails and moving the benches.... I was simply trying to take a nice photo, but he was just angry. The photo would have looked something like this (I know how crappy my drawing is, and actually, thinking it now, even the photo idea doesn't seem that good).

Came home, had a longish talk on the phone with Jenni L. Trying to work now.

I disagree with the result. I don't like the song. Or I do, but I just don't.

Working, right? Right.

A day of loving bureaucracy

NP : U2 - Jesus Christ

Woke up in the morning at 6.30 a.m. at Jenni's. Off to school she went (reaching to be there before eight o'clock). I biked around the Tampere centrum, checked the opening times of all the stores, the church and the library. Waited. Looked for shoes to buy. Went to a bank (Osuuspankki) since I have found out that I have an extra bank account in some small provincial office of that bank, I guess someone set it up there when I was a child (we're still trying to find that account). Went to one more shoe shop, bought shoes.

Went to TOAS, the association who I pay my rent to - they're supposed to pay me the pledge I paid them in January, since I've moved out of the apartment that pledge belonged to. They're still trying to find a record of me paying that pledge - they cannot pay it back to me before they've found a record - although it's impossible that I would have been living in that flat unless I would have paid that pledge.

Hey, maybe I've been in a coma the last seven and a half months. I've just imagined living in that flat. It must be so.

Took my bike to Hervanta. Before arriving at my home decided to go swimming first. Took a forest path off the road, followed a sign that said "Kaukajärvi", found myself driving out of Hervanta (I had expected to find a lake in Hervanta, which I know is there but I don't know how to get where it is). "Okay", I said to myself. Let's take a trip to some other part of the town. After asking for directions from several passers-by, found the lake. It was _far_ away, but the beach was very nice and the water was, according to what one of the passers-by said, "one of the cleanest in Finland".

Now I'm home, making food and boring the jumping china out of you. Or something.

Rest of the evening I'll spend working. I'll be available in many of the digital medias if you need me =D.

P.S. Is my Blog HOT or NOT?
I hate services amihotornot, but... I just had to go for this one. I don't expect any high results though, since the only way this blog is being sexy is by declaring the gospel. And even that I'm doing poorly and not so often.

I wasn't supposed to scold myself.

bye week end

I woke up hours ago and haven't eaten breakfast, let alone gotten anything real done (except for a crummy irc-gallery pic).

The weekend was fine, spent it in Lahti. On Saturday we canoed with canoes with Katri, 5€/hour, 2 hours. It was pretty much our first time so we got a bit bulky beginner canoes, but it was fun nevertheless. I got most of my clothes wet trying to play a bit around with the... canoe.

Yesterday evening was spent trying to get home. We left to the bus station, but the bus left while we were waiting to get the tickets from the station (we expected the bus to leave ten minutes of so later). Katri drove me to the train station, and conveniently a train arrived. I got on it, fell asleep and found myself in Helsinki. Another train to Tampere left soon enough, though, so I was home in Tampere before midnight.

We also watched a couple of pretty lousy movies and were at the beach and I spent some time designing the formmail.php I'm coding.

WorkWorkWork now.

NP: Led Zeppelin - Stairway to heaven

It's late, and this song is making me feel even more hazy than I did before

The most remarkable thing about today was reading the blog of this person. Her writings always give me this warm, safe feeling.

My photos still haven't arrived.

I'm supposed to buy lingonberry jelly.

I've been working today, and a company website layout proposal will tomorrow be sent to the customer.

First time in my life, today swimming felt like I was a part of the lake and it was as natural for me to swim as it is to breathe.

Until I started to get cold, anyway.

Nighty night.
Bless you.

There was this great title I had in mind

Jenni's here. If you're one of the two Jenni's I know closely and you're reading this, then you probably know whether you were here while I was writing this, so there's no need to make up complicated explanations about which Jenni was here, right? I mean, if one of the two Jennis was here, and the other one wasn't - no don't you tell me to shut up! - - then the one who wasn't here would know who was here by the fact that the one who probably was here probably wasn't her, but the other one.

We watched the movie "about a boy" with her. It ended about half an hour ago.

I got nothing done today. I have something that could (probably wrongly though) be called a dream job of mine, and I'm just too... wasted (or something) to get it done.

I've been a bit dead for two days now. At least my notebook (remember to remind me to tell you something about that word below) got a new coating. I bought some soft and furry feeling black fabricish material, and then used glue to attach it to the notebook, because before, the covers of my notebook were falling apart, and now, after several surgical measures, it's no more doing that, and that, my dear friend, makes me a jolly little fella.

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me.... the notebook. Doesn't that, nowadays, make you think more of a laptop computer than an actual notebook? Today, while I was reading the blog of pieni/cresha/a.k.a Soile ( a rarity and a thing worth mentioning by itself btw ) she mentioned a notebook I think and I instantly thought of a laptop computer instead of a small book to scribble in. Or was it her who talked about a notebook?

It must've been.

Straw berries

Took those red dreamy things out from the fridge, put them in hot water, put the hot water in a microwave, waited for it, waited. Out came. Used a larger spoon to eat them, warm on the surface, a bit frozen on the inside. Took them one by one, some of them looked like they were a bit bad, so only ate parts of them (the larger parts).

Weekend was good. Most of my relatives on my mother's side still have the impression that I'm this multisuperantisocial shy kind thing since well, that's what I always seem to be in those family meetings.

That said, the christening of my cousin's first baby (and at the same time, the first child of that generation in our family) was yesterday. The speech of the lutheran church priest almost made me want to throw up, but I guess that's the way it's supposed to be. The kid's name is now Niko Kristian (possibly spelled somewhat differently since I never saw it written).

The first part of the weekend was hanging out at Katri's aunt's place. Good conversations about... stuff, and a couple of movies of the shallower kind.

NP: Eminem

or I guess this is that new band of his, what is it... D3 or something. Preferably something.

Location: Lahti

I got a new deal on a company web site yesterday. I think I'm going to survive for the winter.

I'm having an e-mail excitement of some sort. A person I've never met. Seems interesting and funny.

Today I'll go to Järvenpää with Katri, we're spending some time at her aunt's. On Sunday I'll be a guest at the christening (ristiäiset) of my cousin's child.

Superficial.
