It all makes sense now

Well, not actually. But I'm happy to have solved one "great" issue: from this day on, I'll only have to use one interface to access IRC networks, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo! messengers: the irssi interface. Call me a nerd, but this seems a bit incredible to me (=.

So, I can SSH to my Linux box, where a screen is open to my irssi, which has connections to irc.mozilla.org, irc.lysti.net, and IRCNet in addition to the Bitlbee server on this local machine. The Bitlbee server, on the other hand, is connected to a Jabber server, which then has connections to ICQ, MSN and Yahoo!

So call me a nerd - or a n00b lamer, depending on the point of view. Elina's worried already ;).

Lots has happened but my poor memory has few traces.

During the past few days Elina and me have been finalizing the new website of the Tampere University Symphony Orchestra - she's the webmaster, and I'm the unofficial technical support-slash-image manipulator. If the link above shows a green site (instead of the old blue one), the final site has been published. I'm pretty proud of our work.

I updated the milk front page yesterday, out of pure boredom.

I've also been planning a section of strange incomprehensible things on this site (like there weren't enough of those already), but I don't know whether I'm ever going to make it reality.

Kaisa's going to visit me/us on Friday.

Realized that my inbox is cloaked with warnings about someone trying to send mails that have Sobig.F on some Christian e-mail lists I subscribe to.

Supposed to do some food shopping, load the host of photos I took in the past few days, clean up a bit, make food, etc. etc.

burrito

Location: Stadia, Helsinki

Exhausted. Trying to get Linux working on my dad's laptop, after doing it once already a couple of days ago. He had managed to recompile the kernel, and as a side effect the system boots no more from the WinXP boot menu. Oh well.

The cruise Elina and I had been dreming about is over. It was nice as ever. Stockholm was beautiful and we got this feeling we don't want to get back to Finland. We had to, though. Right. Anyway, I've got a shitload of photos so maybe, once I get to Tampere, I will publish (some of) them, along with the Flash game I've been going on about...

Before the cruise I spent a few days in Helsinki, trying to fix people's computers and so on. I forget, but maybe as I will wake up I'll remember.

Planning to read Terry Pratchett.

Slow motion

Been tweaking my dear flash animation/game. It's mighty fine! Too bad I didn't have the time to finalize it, though it's almost done. A special thanks to Apukeittiö, who helped me with a tricky issue.

And now people, I'm heading to Stockholm (on Monday), via Helsinki. Be back on Wednesday.

Shine

Again there's a need to mention the absolute irrelevance of the topics.

The two previous evenings were spent with Ada, Alex and Katri, just chattering away. Very nice. Yesterday we had a barbecue with a few other foreign students-slash-employees who live in Hervanta, as well. So much fun. Today Katri left back to her home.

Watched a part of Human Traffic, got wonderfully bored with it. It did alter my mood from being completely unable of living, to being capable of at least writing.

Just a moment ago I was on a ride with Ada and Alex. I had roller skates, they had bikes. I had a little accident, my knees got a bit hurt, but nothing serious. Ada seemed a bit shocked, though.

Arrived home from mom's summer cottage. Finished the first part of the Borrible trilogy there. Sauna, swimming, rowing around the lake, and so on.

Studying content management systems and the ideas behind object oriented programming.

Katri's coming over for a few days. Long time no see, see.

noise

Saw the movie, based on the book Stupeur et Tremblements by Amélie Nothomb. The movie was very faithful to the book, which, I guess is good since the book is a good one, if I only hadn't read it would I have enjoyed the movie more.

After the movie Elina and I went for a smoothie, and a cola. Later on I've been assisting hydron in building his site. I've also been playing tAAt's Truck Dismount.

I did study some Flash, too. Advancing way too slowly in it, though.
